While Cadmium Yellow emerged in 1817, it took several decades for the orange and red variants to be developed. Commercial introduction only occurred post-World War I. The unique composition of Cadmium Orange involves replacing sulphur with selenium, resulting in cadmium selenide. Notably, this pigment contains a higher proportion of sulphide to selenide, contributing to its beautiful and warm orange colour.
